The global cruise industry is heading towards another record-breaking year, with passenger numbers expected to reach 39.1 million in 2026, according to the latest Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) report.

The industry recorded 37.3 million cruise passengers in 2025, representing a 7.7% increase compared with 2024.
The Caribbean continues to lead as the most popular cruise region, accounting for 37% of global ocean-going passenger capacity. The Mediterranean follows with 17%.
Cruise travel is also attracting new customers, with 69% of non-cruisers surveyed considering their first cruise holiday. This indicates growing interest in cruise-based travel experiences.
With 91 new ships on order through 2039 and more than $100 billion in planned investment, the industry is preparing for further expansion, offering new opportunities for cruise destinations and travel businesses.
